A New Role

John has started in his new role here as a Nurse Practitioner.

I often think what an overwhelming thing this must be for him. Not only is he begining to practice as a new nurse practitioner but in a new language, a different culture, limited resources, and with so many unusual tropical diseases that are often complicated by tribal or fetish practices. Add to that the fact that many of the patients who come here to HBB come only when they are on death's door and you have quite the challenge even for the most seasoned doctor or NP!

Our prayer each day is that the Lord will allow him to not only meet the physical needs of the people who come here, but more importantly the tremendous spiritual needs of the people. We pray that we would not lose focus of why we came here...that we wouldn't get so caught up in the business of the medical work that we forget to look beyond the injuries or diseases to see the soul behind the patient!
